CALENDAR HOUSE SENIOR CENTER HAS RE-OPENED.

";

We are happy to announce that Calendar House Senior Center will be re-opening to the public by appointment only, with limited activities on Monday, September 21st. The Calendar House staff has been working with the Senior Citizen’s Advisory Commission and Town Administration to ensure safeguards are in place to proactively protect public health, especially the most vulnerable population, our senior citizens.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Beginning September 21st, the Calendar House will be open by appointment only from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday (staff will be available by phone until 4:30pm). Reduced hours are to allow for adequate cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting.

You must call Calendar House at 860-621-3014 to make an appointment before coming to the center. In order to maintain room capacity limits, we are unable to allow walk-ins at this time. After entering, please check in at the front desk for your appointment. To reduce contact when exiting, we ask that you use a dedicated exit, not the front entrance.

Safety first! Masks must be worn at all times while in the building. Please maintain a social distance of 6 feet from other members and staff. Hand sanitizer will be placed in various locations around the building for your use, however we encourage frequent handwashing as well. If you are not feeling well, please do not come to the Calendar House.

Appointment slots for the following limited activities will be available to start. Please contact us for available dates and times and to make an appointment. Activities that do not lend themselves to social distancing (bingo for example) will not be offered at this time. We will also continue to offer virtual programming.

  • Foot Clinic (1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month). Please contact Sue Zdeblick, RN at 860-538-1481 for an appointment
  • Strength Training w/ LeAnn
  • Pool Players (limit of 2 players per table, no spectators allowed and you must bring your own pool stick)
  • Cardio Room (limit of 4 members per session; please read all signage pertaining to social distance rules and cleaning equipment)
  • Computer lab/classes
  • Granny Squares
  • Lobby/TV area
  • Dial-A-Ride has provided transportation throughout the pandemic and continues to do so. Please call 860-621-3014 for scheduling information.

  • For the time being, the coffee station is not available and the water fountains are closed. The beverage vending machine is available for your use in the cardio room and water containers can be filled at the sink in the lobby. There is no congregate meal program at this time. We are working with CW Resources to provide "grab and go" lunches to those that used the congregate meal program in the past and will give updates on that program as information becomes available. In the meantime, if you need a meal please contact us or Bread for Life at 860-276-8389.

We understand that everyone is very anxious to get back to Calendar House. Please remember this is a soft opening. If things go well in regards to public health we hope to be able to expand our offerings in the coming months. For further information and updates please be sure to visit www.calendarhouse.org .

    Welcome back! Sincerely
    Robert Verderame
    Executive Director.
