The Holiday Season is HERE! I really must say this "Time went by so fast – it’s December! Oh my!!"
The Calendar House Staff has been working very hard in preparation for our big move! Our Dial-A-Ride buses…a.k.a. Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen are busy, bringing and returning folks Monday through Friday to various places... They will also be giving Santa a hand on the first of December by providing shuttle service for the Town's Annual White Christmas Celebration in Southington and Plantsville.
Construction of our new Center is moving right along. The exterior is basically completed, and work will now be concentrated in the interior spaces! It’s amazing how much progress has been made! Many thanks to the Calendar House Building Committee, BL Architecture Company, KBE Building Corporation, Tabacco & Sons Builders, Inc., KBE Project Superintendent Ricardo Anderson and Project Manager Mike Newton and all of the construction crews for their contributions and hard work. It's been interesting and exciting to watch the process. We are all looking forward to the completion and getting into our beautiful new facility!
During this joyous time of year, I'd like to encourage us all to reach out to friends and neighbors who might be feeling the loss or absence of family and friends. A smile, a note, a visit or phone call can make a world of difference. Please remember our amazing men and women in the armed forces and their families who sacrifice every day to preserve and defend our nation and our freedoms!
On behalf of the Senior Center Advisory Board, the Membership Association Board of Directors and the Calendar House staff, we wish you a safe and joy-filled Holiday season, and a Happy, Healthy New Year!!
Robert Verderame, Executive Director
